Causes of Infertility

Couples are considered infertile after they have failed to conceive a baby after having unprotected sex for at least one year. Present research reveals that as many as six million women ranging from 16-50 may be diagnosed with infertility. And it is of the essence to remember that infertility encompasses both both men and women.

Infertility can cause vast stress on a marriage. It is at the moment estimated that over 5 million women have sought some kind of therapy from an infertility specialist. And this number is expected to grow since a growing amount of couples areliving a high stress, poor health lifestyle.

Infertility can be organized into 3 categories…

Primary infertility is defined as a woman who has never been able to get pregnant under any circumstance.

Secondary infertility can be defined as a woman who has borea baby but for some reason or reasons is powerless to ever conceive again.

Repeated miscarriages are defined by any woman who fails to carry the baby to term and has encountered frequent miscarriages. Although miscarriages are considered as common occurrences, experiencing more than two consecutive miscarriages is most often related to infertility.

Being labeled as infertile carries a lot of emotional charge for anyone who is going through the trauma of trying to get pregnant but isn’t able to. This includes both men and women. And there are a lot of common misconceptions around the topic of infertility. Here are two of them.

Women are the primary causes of a couple not being able to have a baby.

According to medical research, men are just as likely to be infertile as women. Some studies show that about 49% of infertility cases are related to women’s issues, about 30% are related to male infertility factors and the rest are attributed to unknown causes.
Infertility is more prevalent in unhealthy men and women.

A person or couples health can definitely be a defining factor involving cases of infertility; however it is not usually one of the key factors. There are many lifestyle considerations that can be involved in creating infertility in an individual including: alcohol, smoking, poor diet, exposure to chemicals, drugs and STD’s. Sometimes extremely healthy couples can experience difficulties getting pregnant.

There is good news though for couples or individuals who are considered to be infertile. Now there are many infertility options available to help people conceive the child they have always wanted. These remedies come in the form of natural supplements, pharmaceuticals, surgeries, IVF, naturopathic remedies, and alternative therapies such as acupuncture.

The most important first step is to begin researching your infertility options and find solutions that you feel comfortable with. You should also consult with a physician to hopefully obtain a proper diagnosis.

And you must remember to keep a positive, upbeat outlook. Most couples find a solution when they have problems conceiving. So can you.
